Specialties

I specialize in Relationships, in two different ways.

First with couples, adult families, and parent-teen relationships. This includes martial, premarital and post-marital counseling. It also includes helping parents and teens navigate through difficult stages of growth and development and finally, with adult families where family members want to heal wounds or have an “intervention” with a family member.

Secondly with mood disorders, which greatly affect our relationships. This area includes depression, anxiety, anger, grief and life transitions.

Financial Counseling

As a Certified Public Accountant, retired, in addition to being an LMFT, I bring years of training and experience to those with financial problems.

Personality Testing and Counseling

I have administered and interpreted personality tests for many couples and individuals. For the client, it is often fun and enlightening or validating and the interpretation often shows areas to be careful or forgiving in relationships. I use a very popular version of the “Five Factor Model” which is the most scientific and internationally tested, test.

Career Counseling

I use the Career Occupational Preference System (COPS) which has three parts: Interest Assessments, Work Values Survey (work personality), and Ability Battery. For some, this has confirmed they are already heading where it should be good for them. For others, it has shown that they need more education in their chosen field. For still others, it has shown that they will have to get outside of their work personality comfort zone to earn and keep promotions in their chosen area.
